2.) Siesta in Spain - part of the culture and tradition!

Siesta in Spain is an indispensable part of the country's culture and tradition. The undoubted reason for this custom is the prevailing climate in Spain. In earlier times, Spaniards worked in rooms without air conditioning, what is more, no one even knew about the existence of this device. At noon the temperatures were so high that the Sun's rays could be dangerous to health, for this reason a break at work was a natural course of things. The body demanded rest and recovery on such hot days. In addition, it was worth teaking a break for a short nap after a hearty dinner. The official siesta hours in Spain starts at 14.00 to 17.00 p.m. However, in practice it can be vary and often it also depends on the season of the year. Some stores are closed earlier and some later. Everything depends on the preferences of the owner. Let's pay attention to the fact that if you were to arrange a meeting with Spaniard during siesta, then his coming on time, borders on a miracle.

Interesting fact that may surprise you! (Part 1)

1.) Spaniards are nuts about ham!

The word: "Jamón" (ham) has a special place in the Spanish culinary alphabet. "Jamón" or ripening pork ham is a great pride of Spain. There are many stores that sell only these hams and their walls are hung with pig's legs. What's more - there are even museums dedicated to this type of ham! Spain is simply crazy about her.
If you are ever interested in buying real Spanish ham (whole pork leg) you must know that this isn't a cheap purchase. The average price is up to 170 euros. That's why it's important to cut it with a special, well-sharpened knife into very thin slices, thanks to which the ham will last for more time.

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

                                                                                                              

My name's Sandra and this is my first blog post! I'm very happy that I can start to share with you my experiences from my trips to Spain.
 
My adventure with Spain began many years ago (about 8 years ago) and that's when I started traveling to Spain and learning (in my opinion) the most beautiful language that exists, that is, Spanish. At first I tried to learn Spanish on my own, but then I decided to study Spanish philology, which only convinced me that this is what I want to do in the future.

On this blog I will show you my experience of traveling to Spain, and what is worth visiting in this beautiful country. What's more, I will share with you my knowledge about the everyday life of the Spaniards, which I gained while doing internships there. 

I hope that my blog will interest you and you will learn about Spain something you didn't know before.
